ADAS Calibration

Calibration of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

Most vehicles sold in Canada today come equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) sensors located behind the windshield. These camera-based sensors help monitor driving conditions, lanes, road signs, vehicles, pedestrians, and other obstacles, enhancing safety and reducing driving stress.

When a windshield is replaced, it’s essential to recalibrate these sensors using specialized equipment to ensure they function as intended by the manufacturer. At Auto Glass Agency in Brantford, we are fully equipped and certified to perform ADAS calibration for all vehicle makes and models.

Common ADAS Systems

We specialize in adjusting & calibrating all ADAS components, including but not limited to:

Forward Collision Alert

The system notifies a driver in the event of approaching another object or a vehicle too closely.

Collision Mitigation

The system does everything a Forward Collision Alert does, and applies the brakes automatically.

Adaptive Cruise Control

The Adaptive Cruise Control adapts the speed of the vehicle based on the speed of the vehicle in the front, and continuously maintains a safe distance.

Lane Departure Warning System

Lane departure warning system monitors the driving habits, and if a vehicle changes lanes without a signal, notifies the driver via vibrations, sound or both.

Lane Keep Assist

Lane keep assist works similar to lane departure warning, but it also applies corrective steering input to bring the vehicle back to its lane.

Types of ADAS Calibration

There are 2 main types of calibration; static calibration and dynamic calibration.

Static Calibration

Static calibration is performed while the vehicle is stationary using specialized electronics indicated and lasers.

Dynamic Calibration

Dynamic calibration is performed via a specialized unit that plugs in to OBD II port of a vehicle, and certain driving maneuvers are performed.

Cost of ADAS Calibration

Cost of ADAS calibration depends on the vehicle and the procedure specified by the manufacturer. Some vehicles require only static or dynamic calibration, while some require both. The cost of the calibration is typically covered under insurance plans that covers windshield replacement.
